SCHOOL RULES

GENERAL

All instructions from teaching staff, auxiliaries,  secretary, janitor, crossing patrols or kitchen staff must be obeyed without question.  Insolence of any sort will not be tolerated anywhere in the school.

Swearing, bullying or fighting are all considered to be serious breaches of discipline.

The school’s Homework Policy must be adhered.  Where pupils fail to complete homework without good reason this should be treated as a breach of discipline.

Notes seeking permission to be excused physical education, swimming and other sporting activities must be presented to the class teacher.

A written or telephoned message explaining absence from school is required.  In cases where such information is not received the pupil should be deemed to be on unauthorised absence.

ARRIVING AT SCHOOL

When pupils are delivered to school by car parents should park well away from the school gates to allow the Crossing Patrols an unrestricted view

Pupils should always enter the school grounds by the proper accesses and not through the car park.

Pupils are expected to arrive punctually for school and any reason for late coming should be made in writing.

Pupils are generally not permitted to take bicycles to school though this rule may be relaxed for P7 pupils in the summer term.

LEAVING THE  SCHOOL

Pupils should leave the building and playground promptly at the final bell and leave by the pupil exits.

Pupils leaving the playground should use the gates and not climb over walls.  If waiting for parents or transport they should stand in an orderly fashion taking care not to block pavements.

Pupils may not leave the school for a medical or dental appointment without a written request to the school and pupils must be collected and returned to the school by a responsible adult.

PERSONAL PROPERTY

All articles of personal property brought to school by pupils must be clearly identifiable and clothing must clearly carry the pupil’s name. 

Toys, games, etc brought to school by pupils are brought at pupils’ own risk.

CLASSROOM

Pupils should behave in a well ordered, quiet and mannerly fashion in classrooms so as to produce their best efforts in set tasks.  Lack of effort is to be considered a breach of discipline and treated as such

Pupils are expected to take care of school fittings and resources.

CORRIDORS

Pupils should behave in a well ordered, quiet and mannerly fashion in the corridors and everyone must WALK inside the building in pairs on the left hand side of the corridor.

No pupils are allowed inside the building before 9.00 a.m. or after 3.20p.m. They should not be in the school grounds before the Crossing Patrols are on duty nor there after 3.20 p.m. unless with special permission or taking part in official school activities.

PLAYGROUND

All pupils must go outside the building at intervals. Proper use must be made of the toilets. They are not places for play or shelter in bad weather. Arrangements will be made during bad weather.

Litter must be placed in litter bins.  Inside and outside the building must be kept clean and tidy.

Chewing/Bubble gum should not be taken to school.

Pupils must line up at the appropriate point in an orderly fashion upon hearing the call bell for the start of lessons 

Football is not permitted on the tarmac areas.

Snowball throwing is not permitted anywhere in the school grounds nor should children throw snowballs on their way to or from school.

     Only pupils who go home for lunch are allowed outside school grounds at lunchtime.
